Nantucket Farewell
The whaleship "Essex" rounds Great Point, Nantucket, on its final voyage, August 1819. The "Essex" was attacked and sunk by a sperm whale in the Pacific Ocean. Eight men out of a crew of twenty survived a horrific four month ordeal at sea in open boats.
